The Secret of "The Secret"        Rating:

"History is replete with the stories of strong-minded, resolutely willed individuals, who, steadfastly holding to their inner convictions have been able to inspire their fellow-man, and in the face of tremendous and determined opposition have literally created out of nothing great businesses, great empires, and new worlds. They had no monopoly of thought power. All you have to do is use it. You will then become the person you envisage in your imagination, for with the working law of cause and effect, you bring into your life the new elements which your most dominant thoughts create and attract from without."

This quote sums up the essence of Claude Bristol's classic, "The Magic of Believing," which highlights harnessing the power of our subconscious to achieve what most think is "the impossible".

Published first in 1951, this book has been one of the most popular self-help books in history. Bristol, a religious reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper, with a sense of curiosity and yearning for explanations and answers, wrote this at age fifty, after "many years of hard practical experience" and an interest in what took outstanding men and women to the top. He found the golden thread - "Belief" - which became the basis for "The Magic of Believing" and in recent years, the foundational book for "The Secret."

You simply must believe        Rating:

Belief is the most important tool you can ever attain. You must believe in yourself, because you truly do have unlimited potential. Anything is possible. You must be willing to work for it, and work damn hard. You must be open to new ideas, to new ways of thinking, because you will never be perfect. Trust in yourself, and in your abilities. Aim for beyond the stars. You must understand that nobody ever becomes great and assumes great responsibility unless they can focus at intense levels for not hours, but days. It requires an incredible amount of passion, energy and motivation. The wonderful thing is, even if you don't see yourself with any of these characteristics, all it takes is a burning determination and a belief in the infinite to acquire everything you need to great things!

On target        Rating:

This book reads like it was published in the '80's but packs a whollop! A definite read and re-read.
